Job Description:
Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for
an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Survey
Technician. Make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting
increasing water demands while protecting the environment. Duty
Location: Farmington, New Mexico Responsibilities Provides
technical expertise, support, and performs critical functions on
the global positioning system, Global Navigation Satellite Systems
(GNSS) up to including using total stations and scanners. Ensures
the accuracy and adequacy of construction contracts, surveying
computation, submittals on such items as structures and layouts,
proposed realignments, and any other surveying items that are
submitted for approval. Conducts construction surveys
reestablishing disturbed control points; checking alignments of
forms for concrete; establishing contour lines; establishing
benchmarks; making final surveys of completed construction work.
Maintains and updates the survey data filing system, including book
indexing, data storage, and computer filing. Reviews field notes
and computations. Provides direction to untrained personnel in the
use of survey equipment and methods. Requirements Conditions of
Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. You must be
suitable for federal employment, determined by a background

be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able
to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement -
this information must be clearly supported in the resume. MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this
position, you must demonstrate that you have the required
specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade
level in which you are applying: GS-08: Specialized Experience:
Must possess at least one full year of specialized experience
comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in
the Federal service (obtained either in private or public sectors),
performing the following tasks: 1) reading and interpret plan
sheets and map sheets containing project data, keep clear, concise
and neat field notes; 2) assisting in performing site visits to
determine surveying needs; and 3) utilizing computers and computer
applications in the preparation of deliverables. GS-09: Specialized
Experience: Must possess at least one full year of specialized
experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-08
grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in private or
public sectors), performing the following tasks: 1) operating
advance surveying equipment such as Micro-station, mapping
platforms, GIS and ESRI software and prepare comprehensive reports
of surveys in MS-Word; 2) Assisting in the application of a wide
range of surveying methods, concepts, principles, and techniques in
conducting field surveys; and 3) planning, directing, and
conducting topographic and engineering surveys to support
navigation, engineering, environmental, navigation and planning
projects. GS-10: Specialized Experience: Must possess at least one
full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and
responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service
(obtained either in private or public sectors), performing the
following tasks: 1) conducting field boundary surveys, to include
cadastral, boundary, and topographic and field surveys utilizing
state of the art survey equipment and technology; 2) conducting
site visits to determine scope of project; collecting and analyzing
survey data for adequacy based on scope of project; and 3)
processing and analyze survey data and create survey products
inside Autodesk Civil 3D environment. Experience refers to paid and
unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National
Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other
organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious;
spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build
critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide
valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid
employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience,
including volunteer experience. You must meet all Eligibility and
Qualification requirements, including any selective placement
factors if applicable, by 01/31/2023. Education This position does
not allow substituting education for experience. Additional
Information You may be required to serve an initial probationary
period. Current, permanent Federal employees who are selected from
this announcement may be required to serve a probationary period.
