The Manager of Organizational Excellence serves as a highly visible, engaged champion for driving targeted efforts that continually seek performance excellence and minimizes organizational risk throughout the enterprise. Under the direction of the Director of Quality and Patient Safety, this role leads the Performance Excellence Team within the Organizational Excellence Department and oversees related projects. This position establishes an internal framework of standards and processes, intended to engage and motivate employees to deliver healthcare services that fulfill strategic and operational outcomes.

As an expert in driving organizational change, this role oversees teams on all levels to meet tactical and strategic goals and key performance metrics to deliver incremental clinical and business optimization. The foundational components of the role are the SJRMC Strategic Plan, Der Norske Veritas (DNV) Standards, the Baldridge Excellence Framework, the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), American Society for Health Care Risk Management (ASHRM) and the tools and concepts of Lean / Six-Sigma such as standard processes, process mapping, waste reduction and data management. Targeted efforts are designed to continuously assess, identify, plan, evaluate and prioritize strategically aligned metrics. Transformative activities are supported through the integration of technology, infrastructure and personnel. The Manager of Organizational Excellence deliberately oversees and motivates improvement in the areas of information, metrics, measures and decision support; structure of roles, responsibilities and accountabilities; people and human motivation; rewards and incentives; learning systems of knowledge and training; and work processes that interact and link workflows. This position drives incremental, ongoing change through targeted expectations in the pursuit of achieving organizational performance excellence and risk reduction.

Required Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Healthcare Administration

Six Sigma Black Belt with extensive experience in performance improvement and project management

5+ years’ experience in a leadership position evidenced by responsibilities such as, but not limited to, accountability for strategic planning, operations, budget development, analysis and oversight of personnel

Strong project management and facilitation skills with experience leading large teams (20+ people) of diverse clinical and non-clinical backgrounds

A proven track record of executing measurable process improvements and successful change management

Able to set appropriate targets and motive others to reach targets

Strong oral/written communication skills

Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, statistical software

Strong data analysis skills and ability to link strategic metrics to performance improvement

 Strong knowledge of data analytics and ability to coach the Organizational Excellence Team to transform data into meaningful information

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to achieve CPHQ certification within 2 years of hire

Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAMP) certification, achieving certification within 2 years of hire

Experienced in risk management principles, preferably ISO-31000, to support organization’s Quality Management System and ISO 9001 compliance

Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as a highly visible, engaged champion for driving targeted efforts that continually seek performance excellence and minimize organizational risk throughout the enterprise

Lead the Performance Excellence Team within the Organizational Excellence Department; oversees related projects; manages day-to-day operations, payroll, structure, project oversight, performance appraisals, hiring, coaching and counseling

Establish a system-wide Organizational Excellence Program that includes an internal framework of standards and processes, designed to engage and motivate employees to deliver healthcare services and aimed at fulfilling strategic and operational outcomes across the enterprise

Facilitate transformational activities through the integration of technology, infrastructure and personnel

Oversee tactical and strategic projects throughout the enterprise to deliver incremental clinical and business optimization

Lead cross-functional teams through complex process changes using the foundational components of the SJRMC Strategic Plan, Der Norske Veritas (DNV) Standards, the Baldridge Excellence Framework, the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), the American Society for Health Care Risk Management (ASHRM) and the tools and concepts of Lean/Six-Sigma

Manage and motivate improvement in the areas of information, structure, people, recognition; learning systems of knowledge and training; and work processes that interact and link workflows

Drive change in incremental, ongoing cycles through the achievement of targeted expectations in the pursuit of organizational excellence

Serve as an expert in driving organizational change by overseeing teams on all levels to meet tactical and strategic goals and key performance metrics to deliver incremental clinical and business optimization

Target efforts to continuously assess, identify, plan, evaluate and prioritize strategically aligned metrics

Support transformative activities through the integration of technology, infrastructure and personnel

Deliberately oversees and motivates improvement in the areas of information, metrics, measures and decision support; structure of roles, responsibilities and accountabilities; people and human motivation; rewards and incentives; learning systems of knowledge and training; and work processes that interact and link workflows

Possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate, influence and gain commitment and achieve credibility at all levels of the organization

Perform or manage tasks related to defining and measuring problems and undesired outcomes/metrics. This may include voice of the customer, data collection, value stream and process mapping current state, gap analysis, stakeholder assessment, reimbursement reports and other organizational information.

Interpret a variety of highly complex or technical documents in mathematical, narrative, or diagram form

Oversee the tracking and analysis of task completion, risk/issues, and mitigation strategies

Oversee and guide project owners in developing ongoing performance tracking and reporting mechanisms

Balance fast paced and competing priorities

Maintain rigor and standardization in the use of process improvement tools, methodologies, and application

Maintain Black Belt expertise and skills through additional educational opportunities

Attend organization committees as appropriate

• Primarily office environment with daily inclusion in operational environments
