In this role, you will hold these main responsibilities: ensure execution success on product deliveries, advance the engineering systems engineering processes, tools, and methods, and provide guidance and mentorship of a growing team. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to work across key Lead Design Centers globally to design, build and implement forward leaning, agile processes with broad visibility.This individual will lead the Systems Engineering team for the Lead Design Center-Farmington and provide strong influence and direction to the global Systems Engineering function. - - Additionally, this person will support and partner with each of the operational areas (Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Purchasing, etc.) to integrate technical knowledge (both industry and internal best practices and standards) to assure successful new product execution and launch.Location: Farmington, CTReports to: Senior Director, LDC- Farmington EngineeringKEY ACCOUNTABILITIESPROGRAM LEADERSHIP & EXECUTION

  • Actively manage, be a hands-on leader, and drive programs to accomplish the R&D business priorities
  • Manage technical requirements, architecture definition, and engineering development activities for elevator systems across the full development lifecycle
  • Support strategic plans, roadmaps, and program oversight for elevator systems
  • Work with global, multi-functional teams leading systems engineering activities including needs analysis, model-based design, functional allocation, architecture development and evaluation, trade analysis, and risk assessment
  • Ensure system designs meet requirements with modeling, simulation, and test
  • Intervene as necessary on high-risk programs to ensure timely resolution of issues, and business objectives are successfully achieved
  • Hands-on integration, validation, verification and troubleshooting of prototype systems and sub-systems (vehicle, propulsion, suspension, controls, guidance, safety)DEVELOP TALENT
    • Ensure the development teams are practicing the principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
    • Manage all department staff: responsible for performance appraisals, resource allocation, training & development, productivity, cross-functional coordination, and operational performance vs. metrics
    • Provide leadership and mentorship to technical leads across the global engineering organization around systems engineering processes, procedures, standards and best practices
    • Participate in succession planning, in the recruitment and/or development of new talent for positions
    • Initiate improvements to enhance the efficiency and the quality of the work performed on assigned projects
    • Audit standards, processes, and procedures to drive for uniformity throughout the functions and regions to assure conformance to standardsTHE PERSONOtis is looking for a mature leader with a strong collaborative and global mindset. He/She will be the technical expert to the global systems engineering group that is developing products that will be used in allof Otis elevators daily around the world.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
      • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
      • 15+ years of experience in engineering or related technical position with at least 7+ years of experience in a managerial capacity
      • Solid understanding of systems engineering principles and practices as applied to elevator systems or similar complex systems
      • Requires a high level of proven business acumen, operational experience, and both fundamental and hands on expertise in the areas of systems architecture, modeling, integration, and deployment
      • Strong ability to quickly comprehend and explain complex engineering concepts in simple, effective terms.
      • Coaching skills to help co-workers quickly understand and explain new and emerging technical concepts.
      • Experience in executing programs using Agile techniques, methodologiesPreferred Qualifications
